Shocking Statistics

Did you know…

Domestic Violence: 

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), approximately 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence in their lifetime. In 2023, reports indicated a continued rise in domestic violence incidents. 

Trauma:

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reported that about 70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced some traumatic event in their lives. Many individuals continue to seek mental health support following traumatic experiences. 

Sexual Violence: 

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center reported that 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives. In 2023, advocacy groups highlighted ongoing concerns about underreporting and the need for increased support services. 

Sex Trafficking: 

The Polaris Project’s National Human Trafficking Hotline reported over 10,000 cases of human trafficking in the U.S. in 2023, with a significant number of those cases involving minors and young adults. 

Homelessness: 

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reported that on a single night in January 2023, approximately 582,462 individuals experienced homelessness in the U.S. Families with children represented a significant portion of this population. 

Foster Care System:  

As of 2023, there were about 424,000 children in foster care in the U.S., according to the Administration for Children & Families (ACF). The challenges faced by youth aging out of the foster care system continue to be a pressing issue. 

Outreach, Understanding, and Resilience

OUR Arts Foundation’s mission is to nurture healing and self-empowerment through creativity by offering a variety of workshops that focus on using artistic expression.
Located in San Diego County, CA, OUR Arts works with artists who join the mission of helping survivors heal by empowering resilience through art.
OUR local artists work in collaboration with organizations helping survivors of domestic violence, trauma, sexual violence, sex trafficking, homelessness, and the foster care system.

OUR Arts Foundation works with multiple organizations serving people affected by domestic violence, trauma, sexual violence, sex trafficking, homelessness, and the foster care system.

OUR Programs

OUR programs are created on a personalized basis in collaboration with existing organizations in the County of San Diego. OUR Arts Foundation believes art in various forms will help each person reconnect with their strengths and create new pathways to healing. With a focus on self-empowerment, OUR programs are designed to hold a healthy and safe space for each person to receive hope wherever they are in their healing journey.
